This little Scout is a blast to drive around. Her Serial Number is FC9271 which means she was manufactured in the spring of 1961 making her one of the first 10,000 Scouts made.
About twenty minutes after this gal was delivered, I took her to wash the windshield and top off the fuel tank. A stranger followed me to the pump, got out and asked if he could "look at my truck?" We had good conversation.
Scout 80s were built between 1960 and 1965. These models were identifiable by removable sliding side windows in 1960–1961 and even some very early 1962 models, a fold-down windshield, vacuum windshield wipers mounted to the top of the windshield, and an IH logo in the center of the grille. The Scout 80 had the gasoline-powered 152 four-cylinder as its standard engine.
This 1961 Scout 80 is a "half cab". It does come with the early doors which are boxed up but they need restoration work. The truck has power steering and disc brakes. She runs and drives well. She retains her original engine and transmission and the previous owner had a considerable amount of work completed including tune up, oil changed, rear axle repair, new shocks and more.
She also has after market gauges providing the driver accurate readings for fuel, oil pressure, amperage & water temp. There are working auxiliary lights on the windshield frame and below the rear bumper as well as a vintage working GM spotlight on the passenger side.
