Labor of Love

This 1971 Toyota FJ40 Hardtop received a frame-off rebuild by the owner and is powered by its factory 3.8 liter F engine paired to a 3-speed column shift manual gearbox. This truck came from the factory in white. Extensive paint and body work was performed and the truck repainted in Medium Blue (857) and presents well. You will note a dual Jerry can holder has been fitting at the rear of the truck on the driver side opposite the tire carrier.

The seller notes that the truck had quite considerable rust and the frame was replaced with a pristine frame from a donor FJ40 of the same year.  The body was thoroughly refinished with new sheet metal where necessary before the repaint and reportedly no rust rust remains. Glass is in excellent condition and new rubber seals were installed for all doors. New side mirrors have also been installed.

The current owner purchased the truck in December 2012 and has been garaged since the purchase. The 30x9.50 BFG All Terrain tires are nearly new and wrapped around OEM 15" steel wheels with hubcaps.

The engine reportedly runs well and does not burn or leak oil.  The transmission shifts smoothly in both hi and low range and is believed to have been rebuilt by the previous owner. The original carburetor has been removed in favor of a Weber carburetor.  All brake fluid was recently drained and refilled and the parking brake was serviced at that time. The truck has new modern headlights, Bilstein shock absorbers, all fluids refreshed, new distributor, thermostat, belts, jerry cans, re-chromed door handles and hood emblem. The floors and undercarriage are Raptor lined.

The truck received a complete rewire and was re-assembled using stainless steel hardware, The interior has been repainted to match the exterior color. The original bench seat was replaced with cloth covered Corbeau bucket seats and a Tuffy locking center console. The dash pad and headliner have been replaced. The original jump seats are in place and a stock-like roll bar has been added in the rear. The optional rear heater works well. The cluster has been modified with the Dakota Digital VHX series Direct-Fit analog gauge system. The dash has a round opening where a tachometer was previously installed.

The Land Cruiser comes with a jack and toolkit which includes a rare Toyota grease gun.
