You're looking at a 1978 FJ40 Survivor that has 31783 actual miles. I used to own her and have her ownership history back to 1978.

 

This is a US Spec FJ40 with Saginaw power steering. The truck was originally sold by Bingham Toyota in Clovis, CA in 1978 to Gamboni Farming Co., a cottonseed farm in Dos Palos CA. where it remained for 20 years. In August of 1998 the original owner sold the to his good friend at VS Porter Ranch of Dos Palos / Coarsegold, CA until late in 2002 when it was purchased by a gentleman in Houston, TX. In 2007, the current owner bought the truck and brought her to Bozeman Montana. She has been driven only 2,621 miles in the last 12 years.

The truck has NOT gone through any extensive restoration and remains largely original. The spot welds are all visible on the body and the paint looks extraordinary given it's 41 years old. This truck has her original drivetrain, 4.2L 2F engine and 4-speed manual transmission all in excellent working order. The body and frame are in excellent condition and she retains much if not all of her original paint, emblems and hood hardware. A Warn XD9000 winch mounted on front and the aftermarket bumper has mounting points for a high lift jack.

There have been some upgrades under the hood added for increased performance like a D.U.I Performance distributor, dual Napa Legend batteries, Howell fuel injection and dual fuel tanks giving her a 36 gallon capacity. The truck also has headers which was part of the old school Downey performance upgrades. The truck has been de-smogged. I have recently invested well over $1,200 in sorting her out. She's running great!

She rides on an upgraded Old Man Emu Dakar suspension with 33x10.50 BFG All Terrain tires wrapped around OEM Toyota white spokes. The brakes were serviced less than 300 miles ago.

The interior is in good condition with the original front and rear seats. The front seats have been re-upholstered and the jump seats remain original with moderate wear and aging. The original factory front floor mat is in excellent condition. All gauges (new OEM oil pressure gauge) and controls function correctly. The headliner has been replaced at some point in the past. All window glass is in good condition. The dash pad has a two cracks. The original radio has been replaced with a Pioneer AM/FM/CD and speakers are installed front and rear.

 

This FJ40 includes the original window sticker, Owners manual, jack & jack rods, inspection light and toolkit. She's an extra special and largely original FJ40!
