Cummins Powered FJ45

This fantastic 1966 FJ45 underwent a Stage 3 restoration in 2018 at Proffitt's Resurrection Land Cruisers. This involved hundreds of hours and has over $150K invested to complete the Stage Three body-off and bed-off restoration. The frame was powder coated and all imperfections in the body were skillfully removed and the vehicle was professionally prepped and painted.

This was not her first visit to Proffitt's. In 2003 the truck was given an engine transplant, using a Cummins 3.3L turbodiesel

During the Stage 3 restoration in 2018, the manual transmission was swapped for a 4L60E OD Automatic Transmission and the Cummins was fitted with an intercooler. All the components in the engine bay were evaluated and refreshed as needed.

The entire vehicle was rewired with brand new wires and harnesses. It has custom front and rear bumpers with a Warn 8274 winch. Rigid lights were added as forward facing auxiliary lights to the front bumper, backup lights, and cargo lights to the headache rack. Bilstein shocks were added, as was a 2.5" lift and OME suspension, safari snorkel and windshield washers which were not available on this year's model.

The interior was completely re-crafted and the original bench seat was removed in favor of bucket seats from an FJ60 that were custom upholstered. Three-point seat belts were added for driver and passenger. A locking Tuffy box center console with cupholders and USB charger was added. An in-dash Retro Audio radio was fitted that is bluetooth and satellite radio capable. The truck has a Vintage Air Gen IV unit that provides both heating and cooling.

The instrument cluster were upgraded to Dakota Digital instrumentation. The interior was painted to match the exterior and a matching Vortex spray in liner was sprayed on the floor of the interior. Below is a video from Proffitt's made when they restored the truck.
