Purpose Built - Locked and Trail Ready
This unassuming looking 1978 FJ40 is a beast that was built for the trails in Arizona. The owner built this truck to explore the trails surrounding Lake Havasu, AZ with his brother. The first time they drove the trails, the Cruiser was not yet complete so they took his brothers Jeep and then sadly by the time the Land Cruiser was ready, his brother could no longer participate. The truck was then sold to the current owner in Texas.
So although this great FJ40 has been built for the trail, she has not yet had her maiden journey. If you look at the vital statistics to the left, you sell see all the goodies this FJ40 includes.
She has undergone a complete disassembly. The rust free California tub and frame were sandblasted and epoxy primed prior to painting with two stage paint. The attractive Dune Beige was flattened to eliminate the high gloss leaving a satin sheen.
The builder wanted this Land Cruiser to be ready for any type of driving adventure so some "best of breed" modifications were incorporated including placement of hardened chromoly Longfield axles, White Knuckle Off-Road heavy duty rock sliders, ARB lockers front and rear with ARB twin cylinder air compressor, Warn 8274 winch mounted in an ARB front bumper, Bilstein shocks, Old Man Emu suspension 2" lift and 33x10.50x15 BFG All Terrain tires wrapped around OEM Toyota white spoke wheels.
The steering was modified by incorporating a Trail Gear high steer system which mounts the tie rod up and out of harms way.
To compliment the steering upgrade, power steering was added using an FJ60 gear box. The engine was totally rebuilt and the OEM Aisin Carburator was sent to Performance TLC to be rebuilt.
A new radiator and hoses were installed along with new brakes and clutch components. The four speed manual transmission and split transfer case were sourced from an FJ60 Land Cruiser.
The hard top has a very professionally done operable sun roof surrounded by original factory headliner. All exposed fasteners were replaced with stainless steel. The truck comes with a clean TX title.
This is a gorgeous Land Cruiser with no expense spared in the making. A highly desirable trail ready FJ40 to own and explore in.
