Here’s a US Spec 1978 FJ40 with power steering and 82500 miles. She’s spent much of her life in Phoenix and Prescott Arizona before coming to Iowa in 2011. The previous owner did a frame off rotisserie restoration that spanned four years beginning in 2013.  Small areas of rust were cut out and replaced with metal. The frame was treated with POR 15 and Eastwood anti-rust on the sheet metal. Mastercoat undercoat primer was used and the truck was painted inside and out in her original single stage Freeborn Red.

The body and frame are in excellent condition. New hood hardware, front and rear signal lamps, mirrors, emblems, weatherstripping, window felts, rear heater motor, dome light, shift knob, sun visors, front bumper, rear bumperettes, headliner, seat upholstery, and more.

This FJ40 has her original drivetrain, suspension, 2F engine and 4-speed manual transmission all in excellent working order. New seals on the engine, tranny and transfer case. New U-joints, shackles, shocks, exhaust, Auburn Limited Slip Differential, 31x10.50 Dayton A/T Tires. Front leaf springs appear to be stock while rear leaf springs have been upgraded. The truck rides nice.

 

New clutch master and recent tune up 1/5/19. Compression test reads 140 to 145 across all cylinders. The truck is de-smogged and has a Weber carb that was added for increased performance. The original OEM carb and air cleaner are included in the sale.

The interior is in excellent condition with the original seats with no holes or tears and original front and rear floor mat. All gauges and controls function correctly with the exception of the windshield washer. There is no radio. FJ40 includes Owners manual, jack, jack rods, jack handle, door straps, toolkit and inspection light. An all around very nice FJ40!
