Wow! This 1979 FJ40 is nearly like a new truck with factory power steering and air conditioning.

 

The few things that are not stock: The engine has the smog equipment removed. The stock headliner has been removed in favor of painting the inside of the roof white so no more sagging headliners. The dash pad has a dash cover. Everything else in stock. Original 4.2 L engine.

This 1979 FJ40 lived it’s life in Arizona and southern California.

 

The present owner purchased it and brought it to Iowa for a full restoration. The entire vehicle was completely disassembled.  The frame was sandblasted and powder coated. The body was mostly rust free except the floorboards which were replaced. The entire body was media blasted and covered with epoxy primer prior to being painted with single stage polyurethane paint in the factory original T031 white.

As reassembly began all new brake components were sourced. New U joints were installed. New Bilstein shocks were installed along with all new tie rods and the factory OEM power steering gear box was rebuilt by Texas Off Road. 31x10.5x15 BFG mud terrain tires were installed on the factory correct rims. 

 

The engine was tested and found to have good compression number. The engine received new seals and gaskets and rebuilt carb by Performance TLC. The transmission and transfer case were opened, inspected and reassembled with new gaskets.

 

Both heaters were taken apart cleaned and tested. All the dash controls, knobs, cables and switches were refurbished. The speedometer cluster was disassembled and the odometer cleaned, lubricated and reset to zero. The seat frames were refurbished and new upholstery was fitted. The truck retains her original Toyota floor mats.

 

The FJ40 has both optional factory power steering and factory air-conditioning. A later model upgraded center console with integrated rear heater was installed. The radiator, fuel pump, air conditioner compressor, clutch, both differentials were opened and inspected. This Land Cruiser includes the factory jack, complete factory toolkit, Jack rods, original Owners manual and a reprinted Owners manual. The title is a Bonded Iowa Title. 

 

The truck is 100% rust free and the odometer was reset to zero following the restoration. I have driven the truck and she is phenomenal.
