When it comes to vintage Land Cruisers, the US Spec 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 has no rivals - Toyota only built and shipped three hundred and it's estimate that perhaps 50 remain. This 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was purchased in 2012 from her owner in Indiana. The FJ40 was relatively unmolested and came complete with factory power steering and air conditioning. The previous owner sourced the new three-quarter tub and the engine was sent out for a complete rebuild. A new two and a half inch HFS suspension from Cool Cruisers of Texas was installed along with new bushings and shackles. The third member was opened and inspected the driveshafts were balanced and new U-joints installed.
The transmission and transfer case were opened, cleaned and reassembled with new seals. After the new tub was mated to the cowl, the whole assembly was a media blasted and coated with epoxy primer. Being a new 3/4 tub, this FJ40 is truly rust free. The tub assembly was painted with single stage paint in her original Toyota white color, paint code 033. After being mated it to the frame, the restoration continued and virtually everything was either replaced with new OEM parts, refurbished original parts that were taken apart, cleaned and reassembled or where necessary, quality aftermarket parts. The truck should be able to be titled in any state in the United States. The original Asian carb was rebuilt by one of the nations foremost rebuilders, TLC Performance. The rebuilt engine was refitted with all of the original OEM smog equipment.
Inside you will find the original mats and a totally fresh interior with all seats having been reupholstered using material from Cruiser Corp. A new OEM style headliner has been installed. All gauges, lights and controls function as new. The truck also has the correct Toyota factory radio for 1983 and the rare digital clock. The odometer was reset to zero and the truck shows just over 1000 miles today. Included with this FJ40 are the OEM Jack, jack rods, complete correct toolkit, factory inspection light and original owners manual. New photos added to the gallery - December 2021.
