1970 FJ40 - Sold
All the GOOD Stuff
I have reduced the price on this nice FJ40! Built in July of 1969 and registered as a 1970. This FJ40 has ALL the upgrades! Look at the "Highlights" to the left. She has all the features of a late model FJ40 plus CA smog exemption being manufactured in 1969. The majority of the work was completed in 2010 and she's been pampered and enjoyed since. Under the hood is a 2F engine with approx. 62K miles mated to a factory four-speed transmission which was added in 2013. The 4:11 gears were swapped for 3:70 to improve highway speeds.
The truck looks stock but she has numerous upgrades for drivability and safety. Power steering and front disc brakes have been added. Comfortable bucket seats and shoulder restraints in place of the split bench with lap belts. She was fitted with a factory roll bar and stock jump seats. A safety feature not mandated until 1974.
She comes with a full Bestop Super Top soft top and a full hard top as seen above. The truck has been serviced by Steve Cramer of LRC4WD. Steve resolved some issues & performed carb and distributor work. She also received a new fuel pump.

This truck starts every time, just pull the choke, turn the key. She will fire right up.

You will also find a long range tank, custom tailgate, newer 2" inch Old Man Emu springs with greaseable shackles and 31 x 9.50 Wrangler tires wrapped around OEM steel wheels with chrome hub caps.
Everything works, all the gauges work, speedometer, odometer, front and rear heater are all operational. There is a switch to select the front and rear fuel tanks and the gauge reads their respective levels accurately. Flashers and turn signals work with original tin can type flasher relays on both. The headlights have been upgraded to Koito H4 55W (White Beam) Halogen.

All in all it’s an excellent truck. She doesn’t look like a 10 year old restoration. She looks just like she was completed recently. The body was painted in single stage paint, just the way she came from Toyota!
