This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 is a left-hand-drive example that was imported to the US from El Salvador following the current owner’s acquisition in 2023. It received a cosmetic refresh which included a repaint in green and is fitted with 16″ AD Offroad Performance wheels, power steering, air conditioning, power-assisted front disc brakes, a Warn winch, driving lights, a Safari air intake snorkel, a pintle hitch, and an aftermarket sound system. Power comes from a 3.0-liter diesel inline-four linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. This BJ40 is now offered by the seller on behalf of its owner with a winch controller, tools, a removed factory radio, a spare set of wheels, import documents, and a Florida title in the current owner’s name.

Finished from the factory in white (031), the truck was repainted green under prior ownership. It has a body-color removable hardtop with a white roof in addition to, driving lights, an 8k-lb Warn winch, a Safari air intake snorkel, a fold-down windshield, a vented hood, dual side mirrors, integrated steps, a hi-lift jack, and Toyota-branded rear mud flaps. There are rust bubbles and paint chips and the seller notes that the windshield wiper blades need replacement.

The 16″ AD Offroad Performance Wheels were mounted with 265/70 Firestone Destination A/T tires under current ownership. A covered spare showing rust is mounted to the swing-out rear carrier, and a spare set of factory wheels are included in the sale. The truck is equipped with power steering, a steering stabilizer, and manually locking front hubs. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The cab is painted to match the exterior and houses high-back bucket seats with gray headrests that were reupholstered in black vinyl under previous ownership. Interior equipment includes an air conditioner, rubberized floor mats, front vent windows, a passenger grab handle, and a touchscreen Pioneer head unit linked to Pioneer door speakers and Telunshi speakers that are mounted to the bottom of the folding inward-facing rear jump seats. There is a hole in the driver’s seat bottom cushion and the seller notes that the manual crank windows are stiff to roll up.

Instrumentation consists of a 160-km/h speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 31k kilometers (~19k miles), approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.0-liter diesel inline-four sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Sale includes original wheels. original radio, & toolkit. An oil change was last performed in April 2023.
