This 1979 FJ40 was sold on Bring-A-Trailer.

 

It's not often you find a US Spec FJ40 that is 40 years old and still wearing original paint that looks this good. She has survivor status for sure!  I'm excited to have acquired this Dune Beige 1979 FJ40 with factory power steering. Very unmolested with 79,665 documented miles. Still has the original Dunlop spare tire hanging on the rear tire carrier. Up front you will find a custom front bumper with Ramsey winch which is controlled via a hand held remote.

The paint is in extremely good shape, very minimal patina. There's little doubt this truck was always garaged when not in use. She had the same owner since 2006 and spent her life in Texas and then Louisiana. The body is 90% original paint. She has some paint blending in the lower rear quarter panels and the rear sill from an old repair and a small area re-painted next to each rear curved window that is a mystery to me. (pictured).

Of course she has retained her original 2F engine and 4-speed transmission. A Weber carb and headers have been added and smog equipment removed. Every part that was removed by the previous owner is included. The original carb, air cleaner, exhaust manifolds, smog pump and more.

Interior is a time capsule with few exceptions. All original upholstery front and rear, excellent original front and rear mats, perfect dash pad. She has a new headliner, Tuffy locking console with Alpine Audio installed and nice speakers mounted in the door cards. This setup sounds great.

Original late model (79-83) FJ40's like these are about impossible to come across. The last time this FJ40 was for sale was in 2006.
