1980 FJ40 Survivor - Sold
Jaw Dropping Smurf Original!
My First FJ40 - 1996
I purchased my first FJ40 in 1995. I called her "Gertrude" after the woman who sold her to me. She was Sky Blue. I kept that truck for 15 years and my family and I made many good memories in her. I have a soft spot in my heart for the old Smurf. (see photo left)

Here's a US Spec 1980 Land Cruiser FJ40 that is still wearing original paint and pinstripes proudly. Absolutely have to call her a survivor! I was pleased and surprised to come across this unmolested NAS Sky Blue 1980 FJ40. She sports her original paint and 80's style graphics and remarkable condition with a mere 68,220 miles. This truck was in Santa Monica, CA and then Austin, TX.

Now she's here in Iowa. I was floored at how unmolested she is and what a great driver! She runs beautifully and recently received $2K in service. She is one of the cleanest originals I have seen in years!

Of course she has retained her original 2F engine and 4-speed transmission. All the original smog equipment is present and the truck is reported to have passed California emission in 2019.
New carburetor and ERG valve in 2018. New valve cover gasket, plugs, cap, rotor, plug wires. New oil pan and oil pan gasket. New inner axle seals. Complete differential, transfer case, transmission fluid flush in June of 2019. Only noteworthy body issues are a two small paint bubbles on the passenger side rear quarter below the "4x4" emblem.

The paint is in remarkable shape. There are a precious few flaws. It looks like a 8 year old truck rather than a 40 year old. This gal had to have been garaged when not in use. The interior is so fresh and original it's ridiculous. The white lettering on the controls really pop like new. All the original upholstery front and rear is excellent, perfect dash pad, original headliner. She doesn't look like she ever hauled anything other than groceries.

Original late model (79-83) FJ40's like these are about impossible to come across. I haven't seen one this nice in years. The truck came out of an Estate Sale recently and was apparently a one owner truck until that time.
