Well Cared for Survivor

This 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser has been sold on Bring-A-Trailer auctions.

 

The truck previously spent time in Idaho and North Dakota. Finished in Freeborn Red over gray patterned cloth and vinyl. The truck it is powered by a fuel-injected 4.0L inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The manual locking hubs lock-in smoothly. Transfer case engages smoothly as well. Features include 15″ chrome-finish wheels, manually locking front hubs, power windows, and a JVC KW-XC770 stereo with sub.

 

Work during previous ownership reportedly included paint work on the passenger side, fluid changes and interior trim components. This FJ62 now shows 144k miles and is offered with several historical documents, original owners manual, jack, toolkit, Carfax report, and a clean title.

15″ chrome-finish wheels wear 31×10.5″ Bridgestone Dueler All-Terrain tires, and a spare wheel and tire are mounted underneath the truck. Manually locking Aisin hubs are fitted up front.

The cabin is clean with no tears or significant flaws. The seats are original and upholstered in striped gray cloth with vinyl bolsters and matching door panel inserts.  The front seats have professionally upholstered dark gray vinyl bolsters top and bottom which were added for durability. Drivers seat and a 2" long area that has separated at the seam where the cloth meets the vinyl. The headliner is and clean. Dash has no cracks or fading. Equipment includes power windows, power door locks, and a newer JVC stereo CD/cassette receiver with CD changer controls. Air conditioning has been converted to R-134 and blows cold. Front and rear heaters function well. The carpeting is in good shape and reported to have been replaced.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 110-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge displaying fuel level, oil pressure, coolant level, and battery voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows just over 144k miles


The fuel-injected 4.0L 3F-E inline-six was factory rated at 155 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The vehicle has had a complete engine service. The injectors were cleaned, new plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, oil and oil filter. Brakes front and rear have been serviced 8/5/21. Original suspension. This wagon runs, steers and rides well.

All glass and trim and moldings are in very good condition. Chrome is in good shape and original. Some delamination of chrome over plastic on passenger mirror. Bumpers and body panels are believed to be original including the original mud flaps and all 4 center caps. The body is nice and straight with minimal defects.

This Land Cruiser comes with many service records and all manuals.  

 

The engine compartments and undercarriage have been cleaned and detailed. In recent years the truck has been driven a sparingly to car events and on special occasions. These Land Cruiser wagons are routinely driven 300K miles or more. They are built to last and very reliable. This example was pulled out of the game early. Today she has 144,200 miles. Garage kept and well maintained.
