Beautiful Deluxe Roadster
Henry Ford actually did not want to stop producing the Model T; rather, he was forced to do so by rival Chevrolet, who was building far sprightlier cars. Thus, the new Model A became available for the 1928 model year. After it was first introduced to the public on 2 December 1927, newspaper accounts told of nearly ten million Americans having gone to view the new car within the first 36 hours of its introduction.
Fast forward to 1931, when nearly four million Model As had already been produced. In typical Ford fashion, the company resisted making dramatic model changes from year to year, instead preferring to make most of its changes on a running basis; as a result, the 1931 was little changed from the 1930 model.
This DeLuxe Roadster has been with her owner for decades. She was fully restored several years ago when every part evaluated and either refurbished or replaced. A beautiful driver example that has been to many parades and car shows. She's still purring with her rebuilt original Ford four-cylinder engine, as well as a modern-style electronic ignition system and alternator, fed by a 12-volt electrical system. The current owner purchased this Ford from it's previous owner in Perry IA in the late 1990's. She's driven sparingly and always starts right up. You will find a walk around video below that includes a start below. She is said to have every option that was available from the Ford Dealer in 1931. Her restoration included rebuilding all mechanical systems, new steel replacement front fenders, new yellow over black paint with red wheels and wide whitewalls. New rotary hydraulic shocks and more. The rear rumble seat is accessed by chrome foot pads and grab handles. The folding rack above the chrome rear bumper will accommodate a storage trunk.
Red-painted wire wheels feature chrome hubcaps and wear Firestone whitewall tires. Matching spares sit behind both front fenders and are protected by chrome covers with rearview mirrors. Additional mirrors and wind wings are mounted to the windshield, and spot lights are affixed to a chrome bar behind the top-hinged hood. The radiator housing wears a mesh guard and is topped by a flying quail cap. The interior is trimmed in brown vinyl upholstery with matching door panels.
This Model A is offered with manuals, a quality car cover, and a clean Iowa title.
